On behalf of the MWAIS 2023 Conference Committee and the MWAIS Executive Committee, we take great pleasure in inviting you to plan on submitting a paper, panel, extended abstract, big idea (lightning talks), or a doctoral proposal for workshopping in the 2023 MWAIS annual meeting. We would urge you to encourage your students and colleagues to participate in this opportunity to showcase their work to a small, focused group of researchers while enjoying Saint Paul hospitality.
Conference Theme: Thriving with Agile
The Agile Manifesto turns 20 in 2022! Much of the manifesto remains important to systems development although Agile is not without its detractors. Some claim that the manifesto needs updating given the new normal as realized by the pandemic. What have we learned about Agile during the past 20 years? Please submit your papers on how companies are experiencing agile developments, best practices, and/or lessons learned.
Papers will also be accepted on the major IS themes, including, but not limited to, IS Curriculum and Pedagogy, IS Ethics, Data Analytics, Decision Support and Expert Systems, Enterprise Systems (ERP), Information Security and Privacy, AI, Internet of Things, and Big Data. We also call for research and pedagogy papers that address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Full-length papers, abstracts, panel proposals, workshop proposals, and symposia proposals are welcome. All submitted papers will be reviewed by qualified individuals through a double-blind peer-review process. We also welcome the submission of up to one-page single-spaced research abstracts (150-300 words). Acceptance of papers and abstracts are subject to final approval by the Program Committee. Accepted papers, abstracts, panels, workshops, and proposals of authors who have registered for the conference by the close of online registration will be scheduled for presentation at the annual meeting. Abstracts will have the option of regular presentations or poster presentation. Presented papers and abstracts will be published in the Proceedings.
Paper submission acknowledges that the author(s) will register for and attend the conference and personally present the accepted paper at the time specified in the conference program.
Submission Policy
The submission of a paper or abstract means the author certifies it is not copyrighted, has not been accepted for publication in a journal or proceedings, has not been presented at another professional meeting, has not been accepted for presentation at another professional meeting, and is not under review for a journal, proceedings, or presentation at another professional meeting. Concurrent submission and/or presentation of the same or similar paper at another conference is considered a breach of professional ethics. AIS has a code of ethical conduct accessible at https://aisnet.org/page/MemberCodeOfConduct.
Program Participation
Paper reviewers and session chairs are needed for the program to be a success. Please contact one of the Program Chairs by December 15th, 2022, if you are interested in serving as session chair or reviewer. Authors who submit papers should expect to be asked to review at least one paper for the conference.
Please contact a Program Chair concerning proposals for workshops, panels, and symposia.
Distinguished Paper Awards
Distinguished paper awards will be presented to outstanding papers including an award for the best paper that incorporates the conference theme and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Distinguished papers will also be invited for submission to the MWAIS journal.
Student Paper Awards
Up to three cash awards for student papers will be presented. Papers submitted in the student track must be either solely authored by students or co-authored where a student is the lead author.
